All excellent picks!

Randy Rhoades was amazing.....It's interesting to listen to his earlier recordings before Ozzy. So much different. He unleashed everything when joined with Ozzy.

And, I forgot all about Slash!!!!!  I had always thought Slash was way over-rated........Until I saw G&R in concert. At that time, they were the opening band. Slash ripped it. Hands down the best live performance I'd ever seen. That dude can do so much more than what he puts down in the studio. Made me appreciate all of his stuff after that.

Stevie Ray was a true "one of a kind." I gave up trying to play his music. It was just to tough for me! I was actually sad when he passed. RIP.......

I used to manage a couple local bands back in the late 60's early 70's.  Had a blast, and got to meet a lot of the up and comers doing local venues at the time when these bands fronted for them.

I've been pretty amazed at a lot of the guitarists that came out in that period when I watched them live, but hands down the one that never ceased to amaze me in a live show was Allen Collins...

What a cool experience that must have been!  8)

I don't know a great deal about Allen Collins, but now I'm definately interested! I'll see what I can find online.

Original lead guitarist on the most requested song in history...

I've played in a number of cover bands (country, 70s rock, Metallica, and Black Sabbath), and no matter what, there is always at least one dude yelling "Free Bird!" out in the audience, and another approaching at the break requesting the same. Pretty funny, actually...

I thought this would be in the music thread? ::) You might want to move it Joom. ;) Remember I'm younger and listen to more of a newer generation of metal and rock but I love all of the above mentioned guitarists. It's hard to narrow it down to 3 and I could list dozens of good ones! So, I'll mention 3 that come to mind. Micheal Amott, Alexi Laiho and Jeff Loomis.
