Battlefield 3
« on: August 28, 2012, 03:18:26 PM »

*Mostly Tank Clips*

I am not sure who here plays this (or can play this for the PC) but I thought it would be a good start to talk about games other than ExciteBots. :p I personally have been putting a lot of time into this game of late. I thoroughly enjoy all the various things you are able to do only in BF3 although there is a few things that I would rather not have in the game (such as the excessive language). To get to the point, does anyone here play/have BF3 for the PC?

I used to play all my games on PC, BT, but these days I have all my computers tied up with work stuff.  I seriously miss the 'good old days' of racing and FPS on the PC, and there wasn't an FPS I didn't have or play.  Some online, but mostly LAN parties with 15-20 players all at the house - one team upstairs, the other down.

One of these days I'll pick up another dedicated gaming PC, then we'll talk... ;)
A computer once beat me at chess, but as it turns out it was no match for me at kickboxing... ;)

It would be great it we could play BF3 one day Joom. It is not as much fun as it could be if one is not playing with friends.  ;)  The only thing I would like to have now is a better graphics card to run this game at more than 30 FPS. ._.

Been thinking about a new PC just for that kind of thing, BT.  Maybe Santa will be good to me this year. ;)

Meantime, do you have GoldenEye or one of the Call of Duty games for the Wii?  I got ticked at them last year, but it would be fun with friends...

No I do not Joom. I would prefer to stay as far away as possible when dealing with Call of Duty games.  ::)  BF3 blows them out of the water in my opinion.

Probably true now, BT, but back when I had the LAN parties going it was with CoD 1 and later on 2.  They were the cat's backside back then.  It might not have been the graphics megalith that FPS's are today, but I'd really love just one more 24 hour marathon with 20 people in the house playing CoD 1.  Nostalgia, probably, but still.

I don't know how they play on the PC these days, but the two CoD's I have for the Wii aren't great.  I really like GoldenEye's play, but the online setup sucks with the 'Experience' crap.  I've never minded getting into a room with better players and getting killed a lot before I get better at the game, but when people have super armor, super weapons, super aiming, and who knows what else, it just isn't any fun.  Sneak up behind a guy, shoot him 10 times, and he turns around and plugs you with one shot?  Crap, at least give me a chance to get better.  Spawn/die, spawn/die, spawn/die.  Rinse and repeat ad infinitum.  At least in COD 1 it was based on skill, you got the same weapons and armor as everybody else.

And, if you do happen to be doing well in GoldenEye, and the guy who started the room isn't, they just leave the game and you get booted and lose all your current experience points!  What kind of crap is that?

While I'm waiting to get a new computer to play BF3, pick up a copy of GoldenEye for the Wii and I'll break it back out.  It would be fun to do with just a few buddies...
