Online Wii, DS & Older 360 Games
« on: May 07, 2013, 01:16:18 PM »
-I apologize if you see this as a spam, I know I'm a new member.  I discovered your active community in games such as Excitebots, and thought you guys would be interested, I do appreciate your time.-

I’ve recently tried to play some “older” games online and have found that there isn’t much of a community for some of them.   It varies from  not being able to find a match at all, or there might be a prime hour that most people tend to play.   I was thinking about starting some sort of group where people could create an event/time to play a certain game at.   For example, if this Thursday Night was Mario Strikers Night night, we could all go online and find some people to play online with.

This would allow us to be able to get some more play out of our older games, especially before their online servers are all shut down.  Some of these games require certain online actions (complete x amount of races) to unlock items in the games, or unlock achievements.   This will also give us all a chance to go back and unlock what we might’ve missed before.

As someone with a good sized game collection, I think it would be nice to get some more life out of some of my older games and get the achievements I missed out on before.   Hopefully something like this can take off to the point that there is a large enough crowd that the attendance of every person in the “group” wouldn’t be vital.

This would be different than a clan because the focus would not be on one game alone, and this also would not be as “competitive”.  This hopefully would be about everyone playing together and enjoying some of the games we all overlook now.

Please let me know if you are interested.
I prefer to be contacted on Twitter @theGamerPad or by reply in this thread.

Hey, yeah, I was the one who pointed you here from gameFAQs.

Most of the people on these boards play Excitebots.  What is your handle?  I usually go by "theJude" or "theBird" while online.  If you ever see TopStar, BIG AIR, GOOOONS, FLASH, CodyRs, Agent C, JoomX (or Grandpa as he uses more frequently these days), BTC (BeeTSea), Cubestr (Nyobii), or Copper, they're from these boards as well (I'm probably missing a few people as well).

A few people here also play Goldeneye, Mario Kart Wii, and Brawl, although not that many and not as frequently.  I've played a bit of them as well, although not in a long time.

You mentioned Geometry Wars: Galaxies... that's one of my favorites, although it's been a while.  If there had ever been more interest in it around here, I probably would have created rankings for high scores.

I also have Tetris Party, although I've never gone online with it.  I know I'm nowhere near as good as some of the Tetris masters out there.
I don't always play videogames, but when I do, I prefer Excitebots.  Keep spinning, my friends.  8)

I just recently got into Excitebots and haven't tried it online yet.  I'm gonna do it tomorrow, I've been going online and checking out certain games to see how easy they are to find matches in...I'll make sure to check ExciteBots.   If I'm online there I'll either be "TheGamerPad" "GamerPad" or "SMASHscott".

I love shooters and haven't played much of Geometry Wars: Galaxies, but if you want to ever play multiplayer in it, I'm down for it.  Here are the games from that list that I own.

Animal Crossing
Battalion Wars II
Castlevania Judgement
Excitebots
Final Fantasy: Chocobo’s Dungeon
Fortune Street
Geometry Wars: Galaxies
GoldenEye 007
Mario Kart Wii
Mario Strikers Charged
NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams
Nitrobike
Super Smash Bros Brawl
Tatsunoko vs Capcom
We Love Golf

I plan on buying Conduit within the next week and possibly a couple of others too.

I know what you mean about the Tetris masters, and that's actually a good example of why I'm doing this too.  Some games are out there that I'd want to play online, but I know I'm not gonna be as good as the masters, so it deters me from even going on.  I'm hoping this help us from only playing against the pros or GoldenEye/COD style games that are full of max level players.   Basically being less experienced, we get to try it out together without risking by slaughtered by the "pros".

The easiest way to contact me is on Skype and Twitter.  I'm pretty sure our first event is going to be Smash Bros because it is the one almost all own.  But between Smash and probably Mario Kart I'm hoping to branch off into some less popular games.  And even into some older 360/PS3 games too.

I figure I'd start with the Wii since it, along with the DS are probably the hardest to round up people for.

No you won't! :P  Excitebots has a 7 character limit, so the best you'll be able to do is "GamePad" or "scott"

I love shooters and haven't played much of Geometry Wars: Galaxies, but if you want to ever play multiplayer in it, I'm down for it.

Unfortunately, Galaxies doesn't actually have online play... just online leaderboards... which are mostly ruled by hackers (if they're even still up, I thought I'd heard they'd taken them down).  The best we could do is share and compare our scores.

Goldeneye still has a pretty large community around it.  Finding matches is never difficult (although you'll almost always get some vets in there that'll pwn your butt easily).  But then again, the vets here will be pwning you at Excitebots as well... so what are you going to do.  We've at least gotten better at sharing our secrets, though.

The Conduit - haven't played this in a while... my guess is that it's online is either dead or dying... likely replaced with Conduit 2 and/or Goldeneye.

Mario Kart is still very active... finding matches is never hard.  Same with Brawl.
